Sausal Creek Ivy League or SCIL is an ongoing project of the Sausal Creek Artist Collaborative. We create art and material culture with English Ivy vines As a means of participating in the healing process the land is going through both by it’s own intelligence as well as through human efforts.
We harvest the overabundant non-native plant English Ivy that grows ubiquitously along the Sausal Creek Watershed in Oakland, CA to create Baskets, paper and other objects, art material, tools and medicine.
We hope that by cultivating together a culture of direct and creative interaction with English Ivy we can help keep this thriving plant in check while also acknowledging and respecting the place it holds in our disturbed environment.
